Structural, Optical and Antimicrobial Properties of Carbohydrate-Capped Cadmium Sulfide Nanoparticles

Cadmium sulfidenanoparticles (CdSNPs) were prepared through the chemical precipitation process where sweet potato starch and glucose-functioned as capping agents. Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques applied for analysis of CdSNPs. The absorption peaks in UV-Vis towards lower wavelength region compared to bulk CdS (512 nm) indicated formation particles nanometer scale range. FTIR showed characteristic CdSNPs along with functional groups present glucose, suggesting possible interaction between XRD revealed crystallographic information such average crystallite size shape Using Scherrer equation, was determined be 11.48 nm 16.03 starch-capped glucose-capped (CdS-St andCdS-Gl)respectively.
